I have a Nintendo DS. And Zelda. The two have been taking up most of my attention lately. It’s been a while since I’ve played something quite so addicting - and you can expect a post on Monday going into detail about why this game is currently rocking my socks.

Meanwhile, however, I do have a link for you. Ed Borden of PWNING 9-5 hooked me up with a great interview from Gamasutra. The interview is with Dalan Musson, who did the script for the video game version of The Golden Compass. He talks about the process, and gives some great insight into the difference between a movie script and a game script.

Games are often compared to movies, and they are sometimes compared to books. But a game is neither - and many of the ways in which we judge gaming storylines are based on comparisons to other media. A film about a goofy character that runs around collecting coins would get very dull after the first ten minutes. Translate it into a game, and you could happily do it for ten hours.

Ed Borden Says:

Yeah, but could you watch someone else running around collecting coins for ten hours? I know I probably have ! :) So what’s the difference?

Keira Peney Says:

Ed - Good point. But I think probably because we don’t know the ending. Will they die? Will they make that tricky jump? NO! They fell!
