Herrad Legionnaires

The Herrad Legion is one of the oldest militaries in the world, an elite group of holy warriors with unwavering devotion to the Trithinite Church and unwavering courage in the face of the enemy. The Herrad Legion is very difficult to join without family or political connections, and its exclusivity is part of its mystique as nobody on the outside knows quite how it operates, and nobody on the inside will reveal its secrets. Clearly recognizable by their distinctively ornate spike-topped helmets and sinister unit insignia, their mere presence is often enough to put enemy forces to flight. In combat, the Herrad Legionnaires are completely ruthless and will grant no mercy to anyone in their path. In territorial conflicts, cities the Herrad Legion has been sent against have frequently been completely wiped off the map. In addition to serving as the highest quality shock troops of the Confederate infantry, Herrad Legionnaires are also the exclusive operators of Arachs. In the Atelian conflict, Legionnaires are armed with the most powerful Confederate weapons available, including rocket launchers and flamethrowers.

Herrad Sappers

A small part of the Herrad Legion is dedicated to the support function of demolition and engineering. These combat engineers forgo direct-attack weapons for explosives of various types. In combat zones, Herrad Sappers frequently deploy antipersonnel and anti-vehicular mines to protect fortifications and to deny movement routes to enemy forces. They also use dynamite and satchel charges to destroy enemy structures, clear obstacles, and demolish bridges. They’re useful not only for directly damaging the enemy’s ability to fight, but also by using their explosives to channel enemy forces into ambushes, letting their Herrad Legion brethren engage on their terms, leading to many of the Legion’s most one-sided triumphs.
